Does Persistence and Determination make a difference?

Blog #21

It's Sunday, but Carl realizes that persistence and determination is major to success!

A major key that has made all the difference when going for results has been PERSISTENCE and DETERMINATION. It's the ability to carry on, to keep going through thick and thin, and to put my attitude into the right frame of mind to push myself beyond my usual threshold of pain.

Many people refer to it as no pain, no gain. Take the gym as a typical example: those who participate in sports would have heard of this because it is what it takes to improve. Go beyond the normal barrier of pain to gain excess speed, or if you are hitting and pumping weights stimulating your muscles to grow. It's the same with education; it takes stretching to extend brain cells, and a consistent persistence to gradually enhance knowledge. So determination then is creating the desire, stimulus, and momentum to maintain the edge in what you are doing and not give in.

It took many years for me to finally go from living what many youngsters call getting by and having fun not really understanding why education is available in the first place. Perhaps that isn't completely true, but many students are unaware in real terms why they are making an effort. They get bogged down with a negative attitude and take the so what stance feeling cooler hanging out with the gang. Maybe everything will happen by chance? I know this: life can be measured by what steps we take to enhance the quality of our lifestyle. And that my friends means making a conscious effort to just do it!

I took control of my destiny several years after leaving school because after one boss or another expecting from me it finally clicked that you get to where you want to be by working hard, having a serious attitude while taking consistent steps to complete tasks. It is that simple. It doesn't take any complicated mathematical calculation although if small steps are taken consistently over a period of time even those difficult issues can be overcome. Students today have much more opportunity if they realize the impact taking action now has on their career path.

If there is one thing I would stress about where I went wrong when I was growing up it was not making the effort to excel at school. If you are new to my blogs I left school without any qualifications. I'm certainly not proud, and to the contrary it has held me back many times.

So I'm going to leave by saying taking the easy way out now can have almost guaranteed repercussions later. We have all heard a story about someone who left school early and made it big, but what are the odds?
