Basic Website Development and How to get Started – Part 2
|
| Blog 46 I first wrote about basic website development and how to get started in blog 36, so the follow up is well overdue. Please accept my apologies. The fact of the matter is many reading this probably know a lot more about blogging than me, so if you would like to add to this go ahead. Today we are going to talk about blogs sites that can contribute to traffic interaction, why it works and how it can help to build a fan base, and how they can help webmasters improve their ranking. Well, that is the theory side of things! |
| It’s no secret: blog sites are now the rage. Some people write them for the fun of it while others like them because they cause impact to get visitors making comments. Either way blog sites are in. Some people use them to promote their business by writing regular articles about what they do, how it can benefit others who get involved, and the process to become successful. Nowadays blogs are used for several reasons. Quoted in Wikipedia under blog, “A blog (a contraction of the term "weblog") is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.” |
| The reason I started this blog was because of all the comments going around the web saying that writing your own blog brings more traffic and ultimately helps because much of that traffic may go to my main site. The theory is simple, but how does it work? The first trick I learned after building it – actually that isn’t true because I can’t write html, so I downloaded one after making a small monthly payment to a provider where I bought the domain. That company provides the website builder and hosts my sites. Most domain retailers offer similar services, so check it out if you haven’t already. The main one seems to be godaddy.com. |
| Once I’d formatted the blog with design option (mine is pretty basic as you can see – I need to get that sorted), and written my introductory blog I posted it online. Once it was published on the World-Wide-Web, like any website it needs promoting to get traffic to visit. I submitted it like my websites to all the main directories like Yahoo.com and Dmoz.org. And Bob is your uncle, and Fanny is your aunt. Well that’s how we say it in England, if you didn’t know I’m English. Anyway, other experts say blogs need to be written regularly to get noticed. Apparently creating a blog every day is the ideal routine to keep the material interesting. I tried that, but life got in the way – not easy doing several things at once - so currently organizing 5 or 6 a month. |

Keeping the content fresh adds stimulation. I personally have plenty of ideas, but ideally the content should match my main website Students Ratings. I suppose it does in a way as my focus is education. Actually, I’m not a teacher, nor have the qualifications to teach any academic subject, but I have persevered in life as I got older, and to cut a long story short have been ambitious to prove to myself that I am capable like anyone else. Without trying to sound over the top I have developed several businesses from scratch working like a dog digging for a bone, and I’ve managed to do quite well. I’m still ambitious, and I’m no authority on writing blogs, but I am prepared to have a go! How about you? MAIN SITE |
