Turning gloom into boom!

I've just watched CNN's Student News through StudentsRatings.com video news section on its website and I must say there seems to be plenty of gloom to keep us on edge. Massive unemployment in the USA, isolationism by sanctions against other countries, and how the American people are coping are just a few of the areas covered. Does that mean we should all be petrified about the future outcome? |

If the general public panicked about everything they read or watched on TV then stress would surely be caused. Focusing on problems can give insight into how to find solutions, but some people become hypochondriacs and suffer more fundamental anxiety. My suggestion is take it all in vain. Let’s face it if you can’t beat them then join them. Don’t panic, but to the contrary laugh aloud. You aren’t crazy! The world wasn’t created in a day, so note it and overindulge, or take up some other crazy anecdote, or simply maintain posture. Whilst I’m here it is important for me to look back and say, ‘yeah I’ve done that, yippee my life rocks, or what a ride! |

So what is the answer? To become a recluse! Now for many that would seem immoral and damn right selfish, but really there is a fine line between how to overcome some of the garbage certain media news channels put out there, no pun intended. This may very well be the news of the moment, but what often is forgotten to mention is it isn’t all despair. Life goes on. We survive. We are happy. A person I know lost his wife four years ago, and although this has nothing to do with state affairs, or international news it saddened me to find out he is living like a recluse. |

Some one asked me if I would visit him to see if he could be persuaded by me to go out and act like an average person. What an average person does I can only judge on my own appraisal, but hopefully I’m Mr average, so if I can help I will. To keep it brief I walked to his home a couple of days ago. He must have lost some 50lbs since we last met around a year after his wife had died. Although he remarked that he was ill and had lost his wife, he also mentioned that he has lost his son; who had taken the wrong direction in life. That’s another tradgedy, but he shouldn't blame himself. |

I think many people focus too strongly on their own direct and immediate problems without looking outside the box. It isn’t all gloom. Often they have other children who are crying out for attention, or grandchildren who have never really got to know them. Sometimes we need to put ourselves in other people’s shoes. I know that I owe it to my family to look after myself health wise. Yes, it is for me, but it also makes me feel more responsible because my concern is my wife and children’s future. If I can be around for them when they need support then it will give me pleasure to offer my moral support and comfort. |
|
No, I don’t know if I’ll be around forever, but what I do know is I owe it to others not to be selfish and only cater for my own needs. And anyway this guy worked so hard all his life providing so much to so many. Alright, he considers himself let down by some family members, but then nothing is perfect. We all should know that! He needs to get a grip, and my next encounter will be focusing on helping him do exactly that! |
